2004-04-29 - 1:04 a.m. - Cheeky cheeky!

Crap, I feel like I've just had a net surfing treasure hunt and came out a little bit richer. I wish the rich part was true... anyway, I found two things that I'm exploding over with glee and enjoyment. First of all, there has been a flash toon going around the net with no links or credits listed in it where a bunch of little japanese style "dolls" play drums in an amazing show of 3-d rendered flash. Half the time the file is labled as "drummachine" so I did a search and finally found this: tokyoplastic. Apparently someone with waaaay too much talent and time has made this themed website using character designs inspired by japanese culture in one way or another and made this visually stunning website. Everything is still 3-d rendered so it's impossible to tear your eyes away. Pluss, the version of "drummachine" hosted on the site is longer with a new ending that's a preview of a new menu theme comming soon. Wow, jackpot in the world of flash!

Also, by some freak accident of net surfing (as they usually are freakish) I found this band called The Cheeky Girls. They're Transylvanian twins that definatly live up to their name sake, singing accent thick english language pop songs that are terribly... well, cheeky. They don't take themselves seriously, and you can tell they're just having fun, and making money in the process. I also realized while I was discovering this glittery duo, that I'm not really a fan of japanese pop music. Well, let me refraise that. I'm not a fan of j-pop for the soul reason that it's japanese, but I'm a fan of fun bands that have fun being whatever persona they've made for themselves. Cheeky Girls, Aucifer, Malice Mizer (well, actually I'm a fan of the ladder cuse of the former lead singer Gackt and then developed a taste for them even without him, but you get the idea). And then if you put in the list David Bowie and Billy Idol, two more of my favorites, then it all seems to make sence. Atleast to me. This kinda seems to negate some of the music essay I wrote a few months back, but hey... we're always discovering more and more about ourselves every day.

Updated websites as well: slight update on my travel site, and again I updated my future and star wars pages in my costume site.

Current mood: cheeky girly
Current fortune: Treat yourself

2004-04-24 - 4:04 a.m. - priorities in the bag

Well, had another great week. Been in a major "Alien" mood since I finally got the new dvd set. Only paid $35 for 9 dvds, woot for me! I'm not telling my secrets, they're mine! And no, they're not copies. I don't want to get into my views on copyright laws and such... cuse frankly, it doesn't effect me. That, and I don't want to take sides. Taking sides sucks.

Been having wonderful times with my friends here. Saw Kill Bill Vol.2 again. Mmmm... I've definitely decided on Elle as my one character I'd like to cosplay as from the films. She's deliciously cynical and both her back story and obvious current story (no spoilers here folks!) are right in my "I love it!" category. And it'll be the second costume I get to sport an eye patch. Smart...

I have realized I've been a bit selfish recently. There are three groups of people in my life now that are important to me, and I think I've been kinda disconnected to all three of them in one way or another for stupid self-centered reasons and I can't stand that. Although my priorities are in the right place (school for the most part), I haven’t had the best of times balancing them. Now's my chance. With summer break coming up, and then ultimately my second semester and on, I can do my best to balance out my relations to where when I return to the school (and ideally job as well) scene, I will have found that balance. I'm not saying it's going to work how I'd like, but I'll make it work to be better for me, as well as everyone effected. Don't worry, this isn't life threatening stuff or things that will change the course of history. Although that would be pretty cool...

Current mood: vieled by the future
Current fortune: Make hay while the sun shines

2004-04-17 - 1:10 a.m. - Kill Bill, Star Wars, and Hampsters

Kill Bill Vol.2 ruled my world. It was just what I was expecting, and a little bit more. Thankfully I had read the QT interview that I had before viewing the movie, so I knew for certain it wasn't what I was originally led to believe by David Caradine at Dragoncon last year. Hey, it wasn't his fault. Changes were made, and alot can change in a year of editing and planning. Thankfully there will probably be a Vol.3 in 5-10 years, but it's not absolutely needed and yet wouldn't suck either. I looove Tarantino. And not just cuse I live in his home town.

Had a Star Wars meeting today too. Good company, great conversations. Watched some of the Clone Wars cartoon. Which is worth seeing now that it's finished by the way. The once a day and "two seasons" thing was crap, but the thing as a whole is fantabulous! I kinda wished they'd touched a little base with my Boba. Ok, ok... let me explain something: I was originally obsessed with Boba Fett BEFORE Episode 2 came out. Back when it was suposedly understood that Boba Fett was really a man named Jaster Mereel. Now ofcource being the spoiler fiend that I am, I knew a year or so in advance that this fact was being changed entirely with the second prequel... I thought I may never get over it. But the second I saw the magnificently poetic shot of young Boba Fett holding his father's severed head to his own... I became enthrawled again. It wasn't like before, when I would buy everything Boba related in sight... Took a while for me to get to that level again. But I'm back, Back to Boba, and his merchandising scheme. So my point... Uhm... Oh, that Boba should have had a Clone Wars episode, and I love Boba Fett again, even if he isn't Jaster (who is actually now Jango Fett's mentor and makes a ton more sence then before, go figure).

I now have two pets and live with three. My mother owns a new kitten named Gracey. She's the sweetest little grey kitten that just wants love and attention. Then there's my good Smegol, the tail-less wonder. He's as well as ever with his clumsy jump and whiney disposition. I really did name him perfectly. And now I had a little impulse getting kitty supplies the other day and bought myself (and the kitties) a hampster. I named her Ripley, after Lt. Ellen Ripley from the Alien Saga, and it's just as fitting a name for her as well. She LOVES to walk around the floor in her "rodent ball" and she charges feet and both the cats. The act as if they're going to pounce and even run straight twards her, but she always wins the game of chicken, running in a straight line and they always dodging in fear. She's a wonderful addition to my little family.

Current mood: loving the little creatures
Current fortune: Don't count your chickens before they hatch

2004-04-11 - 11:26 p.m. - i'm baaaack, and still 21...

I hardly have any words to express Fantasm... I tried to put a little something on my travel diary, but I don't think it did my experience justice. My life is very good right now though. Everything is working out and I just had a great weekend that will last for me forever. Bigger and more frequent posts from now on, I sware.

Current mood: blissfully glamourous
Current fortune: Don't pretend to be what you don't intend to be

2004-04-03 - 11:35 p.m. - It's my birthday and I'll drink if I want to

I'm 21! Woot, woot! Happy day for me. Had a sex-on-the-beach as my first legal drink. It was ok, wasn't much in a drinking mood suprisingly enough. But it's cool. Had a great day (especially since I remembered it was my b-day this year- last year I forgot untill my cousin called me to wish me a happy one, oops) I went and saw "Hellboy", omg! If I didn't love Ron Pearlman before, wow! He's the greatest genre performer... ever! Wow, wow, wow. Ok, that's enough gushing. Now I'm getting ready for my next con. I've decided to make a versitile Tinkerbell dress with multiple accesorized outfits for each day, going to be sooo fun. Can't wait! Happy b-day to me, happy b-day to me!

Current mood: 21 and loving it
Current fortune: If at first you don't succeed, you're doing it wrong (duh!)
