2004-03-28 - 11:10 p.m. - crazy!
Another crazy week in the life of me. First my mom moves back into town and into the house. Then the day before all the furniture and boxes are coming, my dad calls me to say the movers wouldn't take anything flamable and since I'm having my spring break, he requested that I come down and pick up the gas can amoung other things. So I did. I also helped him move into his new appartment and get his cats used to his appartment, which they love, and it is a perfect place for him and I know they'll all be very happy. Then, I stop by richmond on my way back to tenn. and visit those who aren't busy (last min. show ups can be hard to schedule around), oh, and I have to apologize to those who I didn't call or have a chance to let them know I was in town. There just wasn't time and I did come down to visit my dad anyway. So... I get back to tennessee, to a house full of furniture and boxes (I'd forgotten what that was like, living with lack-o-furniture for so long, not that I minded), and my mom saying she's ready for her own cat and she's already got it picked out. I go to a Star Wars Collectors meeting, sooo much fun, great people, great fun, love it! And then I come home to a new cat. Wow! The fun never stops here. What's going to happen next? Only time will tell. I havn't been online this whole week so no updates anywhere. Don't worry, I havn't forgotten about all my sites. They're still there. hehehehe, crazy! Just one more week to go and I'll be 21. Crap! That's crazy! Current mood: what was I... oh yeah, crazy! Current fortune: Keep your eyes on the sky and your feet on the ground (oops)
2004-03-20 - 2:02 p.m. - Good times
Been having a great time for a change. Saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Wow! It is definatly my kind of movie. So poinent, so unexpected, I loved practically everything about it. Now I have to go see it a second time now that I know everything so it'll be like a different movie the second time around. I love movies like that. Had my first fanforce meeting. That was great too. Nice people, nice converstaions, I'll definatly make it a regular thing. Now for something fun... I made a lego me. I think I'll use it as a banner here someday. What-d-ya think? (since I don't have any contacts at the moment, I felt like putting in my glasses) (And what's with the coffe cup? This is a cafe, remember...)
Current mood: that cute-bored feeling Current fortune: clean as you go
2004-03-18 - 8:35 p.m. - stupid stuff
One more day till spring break! I think I'll celebrate with a movie (like I wouldn't see one even if it wasn't spring break, ha)... I'm actually looking forward to checking out "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". It seems like one of my "special" movies, but we'll see. That reminds me, I need to find a "Being John Malkovich" fanlisting and join it. I should actually update my fanlistings all together. I've got a list about 30 or 40 long that I've been meaning to put up. I've also been a little busy on my Star Wars fandom. I guess since it's a slow time for Lord of the Rings, I've moved most of my go-get-em fandom energy to SW in anticipation for the movie next year... and Celebration3. I posted on my travel page the other day how I finally looked up the actual driving distance from here to there, wooohooo! Only a 6 hour drive. Score! So I've finally joined in with fanforce forum and community after years of lurking. I'd been checking it out for spoilers since before ep1, so I thought now that I'm older, and also planning to go to C3, I thought I'd start posting. I also created a new page on my cosplay site devoted to my future Star Wars costumes, since there are so many that I'd like/will do. I lied about the house stuff being done the day after. It's taking alot longer... and... I'm without... a TV! Been without one for 5 days now. It's cool though, I'm weening myself off it, or atleast testing myself. I'm really REALLY addicted. Here's some results of my withdraw: visited my aunt's house without calling just to watch a show (which I want to do again, but I'm stoping myself), seen "Passion of the Christ" for a third time (ok, I'm done with it now, no more), and watched every clip, trailer, music video, and whatever else I've downloaded and saved over the years. The biggest one though is still ticking me off: Just recently I had updated (finally) my Win98se to WinXP. Everything seemed to work, except... my CD-RW/ CD-rom/ DVD-rom combo drive did everything it's suposed to except detect DVD's. I tried everything, updated every possible driver, formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows (that started as an accident actually, oops). The only thing left is to update the firmwear for the drive itself... I downloaded it and followed the directions to the letter, three times. Every time though, WinXP automatically re-updates the firmwear back to it's old version, without giving me a chance to tell it not to. ^%^@^$%!@%%#$@^ Ok, ok, I'm calm now. Sorry, I'm just very, very frustrated. I've sent both windows and my drive's manufacturer about the situation and they'll probably have an easy answer for me. Typical! Oh well, just another week in the life of me! Current mood: must... see... tv...(no pun intended) Current fortune: Slow and steady wins the race
2004-03-13 - 12:18 p.m. - few more days
Just about one more day and this whole house thing will be done with. But I've tried to get a few things done around the website in the meantime. A little update on the Dress Diary, as well as the toon portal on the left here. It's got a little tribute to a classic of mine, Mighty Max, as well as a link to my recently established "Disney's Gargolyes" pages and fandom. Also updated my Projects Page accordingly, since I've got a new DA artwork piece. That's it really. A better update (and more frequent) later. current mood: somewhere else current fortune: nicessity is the mother of invention
2004-03-07 - 5:00 a.m. - one week later...
Wow, been mad crazy this week. So much has happened! Lord of the Rings kicked oscar butt! I couldn't be more thrilled. I've been telling people, "as a fan, it's like winning the lottery with a million people just like you." Woohoo! I love how I was raised, openminded geek girl forever! Talk about open minded, I saw "Passion of the Christ" for a second time, sat in the very front row in a packed house, and balled my eyes out, even more this time then the first, I guess cuse I was expecting the parts that got to me and was more prepared to be emotionally destroyed. I was working on this amazingly detailed "essay" about my views on it, but I scrapped it after this second viewing. It just seemed... synical and hypacritical. I'm re-writing it, but I don't think I'll make it a big deal and rush it. I realized writing it as an athiest, I have to be very careful not to let my "passions" interfere with "the passion". Ah, it'll make sence later. Finally got someone to check out the air conditioning unit. It's fried. Apparently it was not installed correctly in the first place, and the wiring is faulty (emergency heat not connected to the thermostat monitor) and the intake duct is smaller then the ducts pumping the air into the house, so it's always been less then energy efficient. And when the r-22 finally leaked out completely, it was like an motor running without oil, that and the emergency heat was constantly running without the thermostat showing that, as well as the air ducts themselves leaking air before it's pumped into the house. Woah, no wonder our bills were crazy. I should have made an appointment to get it checked out sooner, but I just didn't have the money. Now I do, and I'm getting estimates for replacements from a bunch of heating/air ppl. Stupid, long process. Thank goodness it's warm and humid outside right now. Abby, my cousin/roommate is practically moved out now. I mean, her clothes and cats are gone, and she doesn't really sleep here anymore. I miss her, I miss the cats, but she moved so fast I guess I could tell she was really ready for this, so I'm happy for her. And now my mom is here, just for the weekend, but then next week she'll be coming back and moving EVERYTHING in. Woah, reality check! I thought I was busy now, busy isn't even a close enough word for what I'm about to be. For a while I was debating moving down to the bottom floor of the house and making it my "appartment", but the other lay-out possiblities are changing my mind... again. And I really do love my Giger decorated bathroom. I'd hate to take it down, cuse I can't move it to the other two bathrooms since they'd be open to the public... and that bathroom isn't exactly public friendly. I think the Aliens and blatently "subliminal" sexual undertones are a tad... frightning to some. But that's the idea, and I figured thinking about it for 7-8 years to be in my first appartment is enough time to figure if I really wanted it or not. And I love it, it's MINE, my precious! No, just kidding. My precious Smegol is doing fine actually. Since he's the only cat now, he's become increadibly more affectionate, and alot less agressive. Man, I named him well! I think this ramble of a post makes up for my week away... Does it? I think I've gotten everything. Except... My friend Melanie back in VA has started playing her old school "Warcraft II", and it got me thinking about my clasic games that I've kept all these years. So I pulled them out and started on them. I've got "Age of Wonders", one and two, but I'm a bit partial to one's playability, but I love two's custom capabilities. Then there's "Alpha Centauri", and it's expansion "Alien Crossfire". Man, I love this sim. Science Fiction to the max, and completely customizable. But my absolute favorite for playability, customization, and content, is "Pharaoh" and it's expansion "Cleopatra". Egypt? you ask? Absolutely, it's fun, accurate, rich in detail, and is so easy to get sucked in at every level possible. That's level of play, not game level. You get the idea Oh, I forgot, I'm going to do a little advertising now! If you havn't yet, I strongly recomend becoming a member of "Best Buy - Rewards Zone". It's only $10 to join, and I joined in January. Since then I've recived $50 in Best Buy dollars, which went to a nice new "Windows XP Update". Yes, that's right. I've updated, and it was only $50 thanks to Best Buy and my music/dvd habit. And I have to admit, it was worth it... I still think it isn't worth the full $100, but $50 isn't so bad for complete compatability to all programs, shareware or not. Compatability however is the only real improvement... so far. Only time will tell if the rest of my small problems from before are resolved. But otherwise, my point is: join Best Buy Rewards! Thank you, that is all. Current mood: frantically catching up Current fortune: Happiness is an atitude
